While still in Saffron city with Din and his little family, Bo-Katan helped out where she could. Today it was doing a grocery run, which gave her further opportunity to explore the massive city. The fact that there were occasional skirmishes between fighting type and psychic type Pokémon had not escaped her notice. She mostly didn’t pay it any mind as they were simply creatures doing their thing.
It was starting to get dark by the time the armored Mandalorian had left the grocery store. Her helmet on her head and a few grocery bags in each hand. Walking calmly and minding her own business, she eventually stopped to cross a street. However, some cries and sounds of a fight got her attention. Normally she would ignore it, but the sounds of distress were… different.
Moving carefully to an alley, she peered around a corner to see what was happening. If it were any other planet she would think someone was being mugged. Instead, what she saw was several fighting type Pokémon beating some other strange looking Pokémon. It’s whimpers and cries making it clear this was more than a turf skirmish and it was clearly outnumbered.
Unwilling to let that continue, Bo put her bags on the ground and walked into the alley with her most confident stride. Looking rather imposing as she confronted the Pokémon.
“What’s going on here?”
Her demanding voice caused all the Pokémon to stop. They turned to look at her, eyes blinking in surprise and a bit of fear as they looked at this human completely covered in metal. They had never seen anything quite like her before!
The little metallic Pokémon shivered, peering up as well once it realized everything had stopped. It looked hurt and Bo felt her blood boil. She didn’t like bullies. Even when it came to these creatures.
“Leave him alone,” she growled. Raising her hands, she cracked her knuckles. “Or do I need to get rough?” She knew what people said, but she wasn’t going to back down from fighting these Pokemon herself if that’s what it took.
Fortunately the threat was enough. Their eyes widened and quickly all the Pokémon shuffled away, leaving the one they had been picking on behind. Once they were all gone, Bo walked over to what she would later learn was a Pawniard. Bending down next to him and extending her hand.
“Hey. Are you okay?”
It looked up at her, tears in its eyes even as it was awestruck by the armor she wore. Almost as if she was one of his kind. The Pokémon crawled toward her hand, but couldn’t do much more as it was too weak. So instead she picked it up.
“Come on. You’ll be all right.”
Bo-Katan couldn’t just leave him there like that. So cradling the Pawniard in one arm, she stood and walked back to her bags. Cramming all them all into one hand and making the trip back with the Pokémon in tow. Later that evening she could be found passed out in a chair with the Pawniard still cradled in her arms.
It had taken several days to make it up here. A couple days walk from Saffron to Cerulean and then another day to reach the cape. The sun setting just as she came within view of the lighthouse. The view from the cliffs overlooking the sea took her breath away as the sun shone off the waves. This place, it reminded her of home. A castle she had grown up in, perched atop the cliffs of Kalevala and overlooking the sea. A home that was now destroyed.
The Mandalorian couldn’t help herself and she sat on the edge of one of the cliffs overlooking the water. Her helmet on as she simply enjoyed the scenery. Though it didn’t take her long to notice she was not alone here. She had heard in town this was a popular place for couples to visit. The most romantic spot in Kanto apparently. Discreetly she watched one couple walk a distance away, hand in hand. Another pair also sitting on another cliff edge. Then here she was. Alone. Bo-Katan then doing her best to ignore them and the lonely ache in her heart.
Once she had her fill of the sunset she went to the little bed and breakfast by the lighthouse. Deciding to stay the night there, she fully shed her armor and suit to get the most relaxing sleep she had gotten since arriving in this world. Not having to sleep fully clothed on someone else’s couch or on the ground.
It was that night the clouds rolled in, and Bo awoke to the patter of rain on her room’s window. Just a glance outside told her it was going to be a wet day. Dressing in the outfit she had found in her bag, Bo went down to have breakfast. The kindly old man running the place confirming her suspicions with the weather forecast. Again it reminded her of home as she looked out at the drizzling grey skies that would turn to a downpour by the time she finished eating. Looked like this would be a day to be inside and stay for another night.
The rain didn’t let up until that evening. The fog rolling in as night fell. Having been couped up all day she didn’t let that deter her. The shining beacon of the lighthouse cutting through the dense haze and providing enough light to see by as she again walked along the cliffs. The sound of waves crashing against the rocks below soothing her while her Rowlet perched on her shoulder.
However, the peace and silence was broken as a soft almost melodious sound was carried on the wind. Looking over the hazy waters, she had a hard time seeing where it was coming from. That is until the light from the lighthouse passed by, partially illuminating a mysterious shape out on the water.
“What is that?”
Said more to herself as there was no one around. All the couples likely deterred by the day’s weather. Only the Rowlet with her replied with its own uncertain trill. She glanced at the bird then looked back out at the water as the sound reached her ears again.
“Go see what it is, Senaar.”
The Rowlet blinked and made a questioning sound. You want her to go out there?
“You heard me. Go on.”
Another series of uncertain trills came from her as if to say; okay if you say so. She then flew from Bo’s shoulder and out into the mist. A few moments passed, Bo straining to see through the dense fog. Eventually there was a rumbling growl, and Senaar shrieked as she came flying back in a panicked frenzy. A giant beast following close behind her. Even Bo-Katan had to take a few steps back, astonished, as a towering dragon landed mere feet from her.
“A Pokémon?!”
She hadn’t seen any quite like this one, and she didn’t particularly like the look it was giving her either. The dragon seemingly sizing her up as well as the tiny Rowlet who hovered in front of her. But this creature had to be wild, and she and her Pokémon fought countless wild Pokémon during the trek here. This wouldn’t be any different right?
“Well, go on, attack it with Leafage.”
Senaar turned her head completely around to stare at Bo with wide eyes. The Mandalorian raising her brows expectantly back at the bird. Turning her head back around, the Rowlet obeyed and zipped through the air, ready to attack! Until the dragon rushed at her, slamming the full force of its body into poor Senaar before she even had a chance. With a shriek she was sent sailing into a rock with a splat. The bird instantly knocked out.
Bo-Katan could only stare in disbelief as she recalled her starter into her ball. The dragon snorting as if mocking her. Is that all you’ve got? Prompting Bo to look back at the beast with grim determination. So that’s how he wanted to play it? Fine. Challenge accepted.
Reaching into her bag she pulled out another ball, and a Meowth appeared shortly after. Again Bo urged her Pokemon to attack. Tooka was more than happy to comply, not at all afraid of this behemoth of an opponent! Except it ended the same way. The dragon’s tail slamming into the cat and knocking it several feet away where it too was instantly knocked out. Next came out her Smoliv. It too was instantly defeated.
Okay. This wild pokemon was clearly much stronger than anything else she had yet come across. Bo-Katan had only one Pokémon left, not including the pair of eggs sitting in her room. Taking her last unoccupied ball, she then released her Pawniard. The little steel type appearing before her, only to have the dragon leer down at him with a snarl. Kal stood there, practically frozen, with a giant sweatdrop appearing on the side of his head.
Nope. Nope nope nope.
In a flash of movement the Pawniard quickly dashed behind Bo, hiding behind her legs. Sorry mom, this is just too much for him! Bo could only sigh and look up as the dragon drew closer, looming over the Mandalorian as it was easily twice her height. What was she going to do? She could run but… she might have one more trick up her sleeve. Remembering the ball that Din had given her that supposedly was for catching powerful Pokémon. It was worth a shot.
Quickly she reached into her bag and pulled out the purple master ball. With a swing of her arm she threw it at the dragon. The giant beast blinking in surprise as it bounced off his chest then sucked him inside.
HA! Puny human! You can not contain him!
Wiggle wiggle wiggle.
Wait.
Wiggle wiggle.
…
Wiggle. CLICK!
NOOOOOO!
Even Bo-Katan was stunned as the ball signaled capture. Kal just stared from behind her legs. Stars in his eyes as he looked up at Bo. His mom is so cool! The Pawniard following as she carefully went over to the ball and picked it up.
Vermillion was an interesting place, and it was nice to see the ocean again as the last time had been at Cerulean Cape. Having taken her time in getting there, she made sure to get in plenty of battling for all of her Pokémon. Her commitment to this training endeavor increasing along with the levels of her Pokémon.
Traveling was tiring though and when they finally came into town in the afternoon, she found a park and a bench and decided to rest there. With the rain having let up and some warm sunshine cutting through the chill that had set in the air, Bo decided to lay down on the bench for a nap. Her two traveling companions, Tooka and Senaar, also thinking this was an excellent idea. With Tooka curling up on her and Senaar perching on the back of the bench.
Having placed her helmet, bag, and Pokémon eggs down next to the bench, Bo eventually dozed off along with her two Pokémon. After all this world seemed relatively safe. She wasn’t worried about anyone coming along to bother her. Little did she realize there was a pair of eyes watching her from the bushes.
When it was certain that the woman and her Pokémon were asleep, a Squirtle crept out from the foliage and carefully came over to the bench. First he looked at the helmet curiously, peering through the visor. The Pokémon eggs were of no interest to him, but the bag was. Doing his best to be quiet, the Squirtle started rifling through the bag. Most of it wasn’t anything he wanted. But then… a purple ball caught his eye. Pulling it out, the Squirtle looked it over. This wasn’t something you saw every day! There had to be something good in it!
It was then that Senaar yawned sleepily, blinking her eyes open just in time to see the Squirtle holding the master ball and starting to slink away. Realizing what was happening she shrieked in alarm! Causing Tooka to leap off Bo in shock, hair standing on end as the woman herself bolted upright.
“What?!” She looked at Senaar who then pointed her wings emphatically in the direction of the Squirtle who was now fleeing with the master ball in his paws. “Tooka stay here,” she told the Meowth before jumping to her feet, grabbing her bag, and running after the Squirtle. Senaar flew right behind her as they gave chase, running through the brush and across paths. The Squirtle did his best to try to lose them, but the Mandalorian proved to be quicker and more agile than most.
“Senaar, get him! Use razor leaf!” With a trilling cry she flew past her trainer and launched a volley of sharp leaves from her wings. The Squirtle crying out as the super effective attack hit and caused him to fall, dropping the master ball in the process. The purple sphere rolling until it bumped a rock and triggered the button. The huge Dragonite, Ori, appearing in a flash. Looming over the Squirtle, Ori leered down at him. “Squirt!” The water Pokémon’s eyes widening in surprise as he tried to scurry away from the intimidating dragon.
“Senaar, don’t let him get away, tackle!” The Rowlet sailing in to knock the Squirtle onto the back of his shell, leaving him weak and flailing his limbs. A pokeball then came in and beaned him on the head, sucking him inside. The ball only wiggling a few times before signaling capture.
Ori snorted as the ball rolled next to his foot, Senaar landing next to it curiously. “That was something,” Bo-Katan said with some exasperation, looking up at Ori. “Who knows where you might have ended up.” He had no comment as Bo picked up his ball and returned him to it, putting it back in her bag.
“Looks like I need to be more careful,” she said to Senaar while stooping down to take the pokeball with the Squirtle inside. Giving the Rowlet a pat on the head. “Good job.” Senaar trilled happily at the praise and flew up to Bo’s shoulder.
“Wasn’t there a reward for these?” Bo mused as she walked back towards the bench where Tooka was waiting. Certain she had seen a wanted poster with one of these Pokémon on it when she came into town. “No harm in finding out.” After all, she could use some extra cash.
It was a sunny autumn day when Bo-Katan explored Cherrygrove City. There was a chill in the air but it was hardly noticeable as the sun gave its warmth. She had been in this city before, but she hadn’t really taken much time to explore it until now. After waking up in the Pokemon center she spent her morning at a cafe and then wandering the quaint town.
It was in the afternoon that she decided to venture outside the city limits. Giving her Cyclizar a day off she went on foot into the forests, looking for the abundance of berries that rains earlier in the month helped to produce. Coming along with her was her Cubone, Beldum, Axew, and her most recent additions. A bouncing baby Azurill who had hatched the day before and a tiny Alolan Vulpix who hatched early that morning. The two babies taking in the world with wide eyes while the other three assisted in looking for edible treasures.
Bo-Katan had brought along two slings that she had been carrying the babies in when they were still in their eggs. One of them nearly full of Pecha and Oran berries after a couple of hours of delving deep into the forest. Eventually they came across a tall tree full of Cheri berries, though they were largely out of reach. Bo-Katan frowning as she looked up at tried to determine how best to reach them. They were Ori and Paz’s favorite after all.
“Taakur, try head butting the trunk. Maybe that will get some of the to fall.” The Cubone looked up at her trainer then looked to the tree. “Bone!” The Pokémon clutching her bond club in determination as she walked over to the tree then slammed her helmeted head against it. A few berries falling, and even more after a second and a third hit. However, after that last one something much bigger also fell from the branches.
“Cross!” The surprised exclamation coming from a big blue bug who landed on its back with a thud. Legs flailing about in a panic as it was unable to fight itself. “Crooooosss!”
The stunned Mandalorian and her Pokémon starred in shock for several moments until it was clear the Pokémon couldn’t get up. Placing her bags down, Bo quickly went to the Pokémon’s aid. Fortunately it’s not terribly heavy and she’s able to push it back up to its feet. The Heracross looking relieved before blinking at her curiously.
“Sorry about that. We were just looking to get some berries. Here.” She picks up some of the fallen Cheri berries and offers them to the giant bug, who happily accepts the offering. While it’s munching away, Bo goes about picking up more of the berries along with her Pokémon and stuff them into the sling before tying it up. The Heracross seeming friendly enough as it wandered over and watched them.
Bo looks at the bug and smirks in amusement. “I don’t suppose you know any good foraging spots?” The Heracross perked up and then motioned for her to follow with its arm before starting to meander away. Looking at her Cubone, who looks back, Bo-Katan picks up her bag and bundle of berries before following with her entourage.
After following the bug for awhile, they eventually came upon a sunny clearing. Bo-Katan’s Pokémon murmuring in amazement at what they see before them. Mushrooms everywhere! The plentiful rains from earlier must have cause an explosion of the fungus. Not only that, but there were several trees on the edges of the clearing bursting with berries. All her Pokémon surged into the clearing to partake of the bounty and started feasting. The Heracross looking pleased with itself and joining in. This left Bo-Katan to wonder why there wasn’t more wild Pokémon here. It seemed eerily quiet aside from her group, causing her to look around cautiously.
The reason soon became clear as a massive, rotund Pokemon emerged from the bushes. Bellowing angrily at the other Pokemon with arm loads of berries it had just picked. A quick scan revealed it to be a Snorlax. Known for its gluttony and clearly this one wasn’t interested in sharing either. Shoving the berries it had picked into its mouth, the Snorlax then stomped towards the Pokémon. The babies quickly running back to Bo to hide behind her. The Cubone, Beldum and Axew though stood their ground.
Looked like this was going to come down to a battle. Bo-Katan didn’t have her strongest Pokémon with her and this creature looked tough. So she had her Cubone use Headbutt. The little Pokémon running at the Snorlax head first, only to bounce off of its belly. The Snorlax hardly seeming fazed. It then waved its paws back and forth, using an attack she hadn’t seen before and would later learn was Metronome. The result being a powerful jet of water spewing from its mouth in a Hydro Pump. The poor Cubone getting blasted to a tree trunk by the water jet and falling down with a wet plop.
Recalling the fainted ground type Bo then commanded her Beldum to use its one attack, Take Down, which had similar results with the Cubone’s headbutt. The Beldum spinning backward through the air when it bounced off the Snorlax’s belly. Again the creature waved its paws and much to the Mandalorian’s surprise this time a burst of flames came from it in an Overheat. The Beldum shrieking in its mechanical sounding voice, prompting Bo to return it too.
Finally it was her Axew’s turn. The little dragon jumping forward as Bo commanded her to use Rock Smash. Again she bounced off but the Snorlax seemed to feel that one as it bellowed in disapproval. Again it waved its arms and curled it on itself in a Withdraw. With both Bo and her Axew feeling emboldened she commanded her little dragon to use Superpower. The Axew charging at the Snorlax and delivering a mighty blow! Bellowing in anger and pain the Snorlax rises up and waves its paws again. It then charges and swings its fist at the Axew in an Ice Punch! The Pokemon crying out as she’s knocked down and shivering.
Returning her dragon quickly, Bo backs up as the Snorlax comes angrily stomping at her now. Not willing to send the tiny babies into battle where they surely stood no chance, the Mandalorian backs up, contemplating retreat. That is until the Heracross jumps in front of her. “Hera! Heracross!” The bug clearly talking smack as the Snorlax bellows its displeasure. The Heracross then darts forward, swinging its arms several times in Arm Thrust! The Snorlax cringing as each blow hits. Not bothering with Metronome this time it merely uses Flail, causing the Heracross to wince but manages to withstand the attack. It then retaliates by zooming in with an Aerial Ace. The Snorlax falling back on its round rear, clearly getting weak.
Seeing an opportunity Bo-Katan grabbed a ball out of her bag and threw it. The Snorlax getting sucked inside, only to break out not long after. Perturbed, the Snorlax then threw itself at the Heracross in a tackle. The bug managing to jump out of the way and avoid getting squished. Again Bo threw another ball, and again the Snorlax broke out. This went on for several rounds. The Snorlax struggling as it tried attack with mixed success and Bo throwing balls. The Heracross doing its best to hold on, panting in exhaustion as Bo threw her ninth ball. The Snorlax getting sucked inside yet again but was seemingly unable or unwilling to keep struggling as it wiggled a few times and then went still. The ball pinging its successful capture.
Breathing a sigh of relief Bo-Katan looked to the Heracross who looked back at her. “Thanks. I owe you one.” The bug giving a tired but pleased sound. Reaching into her bag she walked over to the Heracross and used a potion on it. “That should help you feel better.” And indeed the Heracross perked up. She then picked up the fallen pokeball, shaking her head as she feels like she’s come into the posesssion of yet another problem Pokemon. But the Heracross was still standing there, watching her. Her little Azurill and Vulpix carefully walking over too. “You know… I don’t have any bug types in my team yet. You can join us if you want.” At that suggestion the Heracross beamed in excitement. “Cross!”
“I’ll take that as a yes. Now, let’s gather up some of these mushrooms and berries and get back to town.” Her other Pokémon were going to need healing after all. Thus with the help of her new Heracross, they gathered as many mushrooms and berries as they could carry. Going back into town with a veritable bounty of food that Bo either sold at the Pokemart or kept for her Pokemon.
(( Note: Snorlax appeared due to a calendar event that coincided with an abundance of mushrooms and berries after two weeks of rain. I used actual RNG to calculate the capture and gender of the Snorlax. Also used a Metronone RNG program to determine the attacks the Snorlax used. These were the actual results LOL.))
Pawniard
It was starting to get dark by the time the armored Mandalorian had left the grocery store. Her helmet on her head and a few grocery bags in each hand. Squirtle
Traveling was tiring though and when they finally came into town in the afternoon, she found a park and a bench and decided to rest there. Heracross and Snorlax
